To add a dimension attribute, perform the following steps.
From the Toolbox, click Semantic Models.
Select a semantic model from the list.
Do one of the following:
Click the plus sign, and a dimension named Dimension is added with a default level and attribute.
Locate the dimension you want to change. Right-click Attributes and choose Add Attribute.
Edit the properties to define the attribute.
Choose a Type: Location or Regular.
The available choices are based on the dimension type you are using.Select a field.
You can also click Search and type a name into the Search text box to find it faster.You can also specify a Display Field. This specifies the name shown and where the new attribute is located in the hierarchical structure.
For example, you may use a department number but want to display a department name.You can also specify a Sort Field. This allows sorting of data for the selected attribute based on the selected sort field, when using Kyvos visualization tools such as worksheets. From Kyvos 2023.3 it is applicable for BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Excel, except MicroStrategy
If you are using user-defined member properties, select a property and click Settings. See User-defined member properties. These properties allow you to perform analysis based on additional information about the dimension members.
If you are using a HOLAP semantic model, you can specify whether to materialize the attribute. Yes means the field will be a part of the processed semantic model, and No means it will be excluded.
Add an optional description of up to 200 characters. The optional description is used when you hover the cursor over the attribute in a worksheet.
