As this is a beta version of DAX connectivity for the Kyvos 2023.1.1 release, you may encounter the following limitations when performing data analysis and visualization tasks after setting up DAX connectivity in Power BI. These will be fixed in the upcoming versions.

  • Creation of DAX calculated measure in the Microsoft Power BI is partially supported. Currently, in DAX syntax, expressions where you must use a table name are not supported.

  • Result cache is not supported.

  • Import mode is not supported.

  • Time intelligence functions are not supported. However, you can still create them on the Kyvos cube and use them in Microsoft Power BI.

  • Any modifications to the cube view are not supported.

  • Kyvos masking rules do not function as expected.

  • Map users to customdata are not supported in Microsoft Power BI services. Hence, you cannot pass user credentials for authentication.

  • Exporting analysis (complete cube structure) to Excel is not supported in Microsoft Power BI services.

  • Kyvos field or column description is not displayed in Microsoft Power BI.

  • In Snowflake schema, visualizations and filtering on Snowflake columns behave as unrelated dimensions.

  • Dimension name and measure group name in the semantic model must be different.

  • While switching or replacing the cube, the source and destination cube names must be the same name.

  • Date format will not be respected in DAX querying.

  • Unknown values will be shown as blank.

SSAS connector limitations

  • Adding another data source when connected using an SSAS connector is not supported.

  • Member properties are not visible as Microsoft Power BI does not support it.

  • Calculated Members are not visible as Microsoft Power BI does not support it

  • Below functional aspects of Microsoft Power BI will not be available after connecting the Kyvos cube from the SSAS connector (the same is also not available via SSAS live connectivity):

    • Smart Narratives

    • Q&A

    • New Column or Table
