To select values from the existing list, select the Predefined List, and proceed as follows:

1. Click to select from the values shown, or scroll to find a value.

2. Click Select All to select all values. 
   

   

3. Click Select All then deselect items you want to leave out of the search.

4. Click the Plus icon to add additional filters or the Minus icon to remove a filter.

5. Click to select the filter criteria and update the values as needed.

For Custom List, click Custom List, and proceed as follows:

1. Provide a comma-separated list of values, then press Enter or click Select.

2. The selected items are displayed as shown in the following figure.
   

   

3. Click the Plus icon to add additional filters or the Minus icon to remove a filter.

4. Click to select the filter criteria and update the values as needed

Use List By Condition for cohort analysis.

A cohort analysis is particularly useful when you want to study the consumption patterns of a specific group (cohort) to get specific insights into their behavior. The list by condition option enables you to specify your cohort condition through just a few clicks, instead of writing long SQL queries (which is too time-consuming and effort-intensive).

1. Select the List by Condition option.
   The List by Condition option is available only with two Dimension filter conditions, which are:

   • is in the list

   • is not in the list

2. Click Add Condition.

3. Use the fields to specify conditions for dimensions, contextualTopN, or measures.
   You can apply the contextual TopN only on the dimension over which cohort conditions are applied. For example, in this case, it can be applied only to Customer ID.

4. Use the Inherit Dimension Filter option to select/inherit other dimension filters which are applied on the worksheet. This option is available only if there are other dimension filters on your worksheet.
   

   

5. Click Apply. 
   

Let us take a use case for the number of customers who bought maternity products in the last quarter but have not bought baby products as yet.

1. To start the analysis, you need to first apply a condition on the Customer ID, where Category is Maternity Products and Quarter is Q3-2020 by clicking on add condition link, as shown in the following figure.
   

   

2. Then, add the condition for Q1 2021 and Category is not Baby products (as shown in the following figure), such that your condition is “Customers who bought Maternity products in Q3 2020, but have not bought Baby products in Q1 2021”.
