Kyvos supports naming semantic model entities in the ENTITY_ format, such as DIMENSION_, DIM_, and MEASURE_, and so on.

Kyvos provides a selection of default formats. For example, you can format numbers, currency, dates, times, network IDs, and text. You can also set up a custom format.To format the selected item, perform the following steps: 

  1. Do one of the following:
    1. When a measure in a semantic model is selected, click the Actions menu (...) next to the Format property.
    2. When editing a format action in a dataset, in the Field Format Properties, click the ... in the Input Format column for the selected field.
    3. Select the format type, for example, Number. 
  2. Follow the instructions in the table below, then click Apply
FormatDescription

Number

The format box shows the results of the current settings.

  1. Enter the number of decimal places.
  2. Specify how negative values are displayed –for example with a minus sign and parentheses (-1234).
  3. Click the checkbox to include thousands separators.

Currency

The format box shows the results of the current settings.

  1. Enter the number of decimal places.
  2. Specify how negative values are displayed –for example with a minus sign and parentheses (-1234).
  3. Select a unit type: None, Rs, $, or euros.
  4. Click the checkbox to include thousands separators.

Date

The format box shows the results of the current settings.

  1. Select a predefined format from the list. The number of letters indicates the number of values that will be shown. For example, yy or yyyy both indicate year, for example, 19 or 2019. M is month, d is day, y is year, q is quarter, H is hours, m is minutes, s is seconds, and a indicates am or pm.
  2. If you choose Custom, enter a custom format.

Time

The format box shows the results of the current settings.

  1. Select a predefined format from the list. The number of letters indicates the number of values that will be shown. H is hours, m is minutes, s is seconds, and a indicates am or pm.
  2. If you choose Custom, enter a custom format.
Duration

The format box shows the results of the current settings.

  1. Select a predefined format from the list. The number of letters indicates the number of values that will be shown. H is hours, m is minutes, and s is seconds.
  2. If you choose Custom, enter a custom format.

Percentage

The format box shows the results of the current settings.

Enter the number of decimal places.

Scientific

The format box shows the results of the current settings.

Enter the number of decimal places.

Text

The format box shows the results of the current settings.

Select a format type from the list: None, lower case, or upper case.
Note: Applicable for datasets only. Datasets are now deprecated.

Network ID

The format box shows the results of the current settings.

Select a format from the list: IP Address (IPv4) or MAC Address.
Note: Applicable for datasets only. Datasets are now deprecated.

Custom

Enter the format of the custom type.
