Adding nodes to existing Kyvos Cluster on Azure

You can add new Query Engine and BI Server nodes to an existing Kyvos cluster.

For this, you must first provision a VM Instance in the Azure Portal before adding it to the Kyvos Cluster. Once this is done, you can add the node to the cluster through the Kyvos Manager and assign it the role for the service that will run on it, such as Query Engine or BI Server.

This document explains the steps to add Query Engine nodes, you can use the same steps to add BI Server nodes as well.

Important

Your license governs the maximum number of instances allowed for Query Engines and BI Servers. Please ensure you have sufficient instances allowed by the license before adding more nodes.

Adding instance to Azure Scale Set

Login into Microsoft Azure Portal and search for Virtual machine scale sets.
Search for existing Kyvos Query Engines scale sets.
In the instance, you will see the existing VMs, which are part of the current cluster (3 in this case).
Select Scaling > Manual Scaling.
Enter the number of required instances in the Instance Count (4 in this case) and click Save.
You can see new VM Instances getting provisioned in the Instances Section. (In Azure Scale sets 1 + Desired Instances are provisioned to ensure your requirements are met, and the additional instances is taken down once you have the desired number of Instances).
Capture the private IP of the newly created Instance.

Adding newly created instance to Kyvos cluster

Login into Kyvos Manager and navigate to Kyvos and Ecosystem page. Here, go to Node and Service Mapping.
From the three dots menu, select the Add Nodes option.
In the displayed Add Nodes to Cluster dialog box, provide the IP address of the newly created VM.
Under Services, select the service you want to run on the VM instance, such as Query Engine or BI Server.
From the right pane, check the Node Details and Prerequisites Checks and click the Next button. The newly created VM will be added to your cluster and displayed on the Kyvos Manager Dashboard.
