Many object types allow you to set properties for the object. Some object types show you default, inherited, and modified values.
Depending on the object type, you can also view the other interrelated or dependent properties.
For semantic models, see Using semantic properties.
Adding properties
To add properties, perform the following steps.
Right-click the object name from the list of objects and choose Properties.
The options vary, but you'll see a list of property names and value pairs in many cases.Click Add Property to enter each new property name and value pair. They are added to the group Miscellaneous.
Click Add.
Viewing or modifying existing properties
To view or edit existing properties, perform the following steps.
Right-click the object name from the list of objects and choose Properties.
The options vary, but you'll see a list of property names and value pairs in many cases.Expand the group names to see the properties in that group.
Click Search to type property names and quickly find values.
Click Add Property to enter each new property name and value pair.
Click the minus icon next to your added properties to remove them.
Click the i icon to view a description of the property, or click Show Description.
Use the Action menu ( ⋮ ) next to the i icon to specify whether to use the default or modified properties.
Click Save when finished.
Some object types allow you to use the minus button to delete other properties. For example, connections or properties that you add.
Managing connection properties
To view, edit, or add connection properties, perform the following steps.
From the Toolbox, click Setup, then choose Connections.
Click a connection from the Connections column.
Click Properties to view existing properties or add new ones.
Click Add Property to add each new property name and value pair. They are added to the group Miscellaneous.
Click Add.
Default, Inherited, and Modified value indicators
The visual indicators let you know if a property is using a default or modified value or if it has been inherited.
Default properties are the initial recommended value set for the object by Kyvos.
Inherited properties may come from the system, connection, or from other dependent entities.
Modified properties have a value other than the default or inherited value. This is the default mode for all user-defined properties.
Dependencies
If a property has dependent properties, then a link indicating the number of dependencies found is displayed to the right of that property name and you can view the dependent properties by clicking that link. Click the arrow near the top of the page to return to the previous view.
For example, in the sample semantic model used for this example, kyvos.records.skipbadrows has two dependent properties:
kyvos.build.blankvalue.badrow
kyvos.records.skipbadrows.threshold
Clicking the Dependent properties link shows the detailed view, as shown in the image below.
Filtering properties
You can filter based on the default, inherited, or modified values to see only selected properties.
To filter properties, perform the following steps.
Right-click the object name from the list of objects and click Properties.
Select a group and expand the category of properties you want to view.
Click Value at the top of the column and select the values to filter by.
Click the X next to a filter value to remove that filter.
For some object types, such as semantic models, you can select elements within an object and view their properties in the Properties panel for that element. Those properties are covered in other topics.
