Applying filters on data

  1. On the Explore page, click the Filter tab corresponding to the measure or dimension on which you want to filter data.

  2. Choose the filter condition that you want to apply.

  3. Click Run.

Important

The data shown in an Explore is determined by the dimensions and measures you select from the field picker at the left. A dimension can be thought of as a group or bucket of data. A measure is the information about that bucket of data. In Looker, dimensions appear as blue columns, and measures appear as orange columns in your data table. Also, the worksheets created here are called a Look.

Working with Looker Dashboard

A Looker dashboard is a collection of queries displayed as visualizations on a page. Dashboards let you combine key queries and visualizations into a one-page executive view. You can add filters to make the dashboard interactive and rearrange its tiles.

  1. On the Looker home page, click New > Dashboard.

  2. Provide a Name for the Dashboard, and click the Create Dashboard button. By default, the new dashboard is saved to your <user> folder.

  3. Select Add looks to add a look or select New Tile.

  4. Select the Looks that you want to add to your dashboard, and click Update Dashboard.
The dashboard is created. The following figure shows a sample dashboard.

Points to remember

  1. Looker does not support TopN.

  2. The pivot option in the Explore screen does not work with Kyvos.

  3. Space within measure name cannot be used while defining a measure in the view.
