When a filter is applied, records not used in the report are not shown in the crosstab. For example, if you filter customers for sales higher than $1000, the customer IDs with lower values are no longer shown in the table with empty values.

You can specify contextual TopN when there are multiple dimensions in Crosstab properties. Measure filtering is considered when contextual TopN is applied and measures are present on either the X or Y axis.

To apply a filter in a crosstab, perform the following steps: 

  1. From the Toolbox, select Workbooks, then select a workbook and worksheet. 

  2. If needed, select the Design workspace.

  3. Select the Crosstab view type from the View Type list.

  4. Use the filter options in the right pane to add a filter. See Filtering data in worksheets.
