Important
Ask data works only on published data sources.
Indexing will not work if you have applied any user filter (initial sql) on the data source.
Indexing will not work for Tableau Online if you selected the Prompt user mode while publishing the data source.
Prerequisite for indexing in Ask Data
For indexing in Ask Data, the Kyvos semantic model that you are connecting here must have raw data querying enabled. If not, navigate to the semantic model on the Kyvos portal, and Enable the Raw Data Querying option from the Properties pane on the right.
Once indexing is complete, you can Disable the Raw Data Querying option
Connecting Kyvos semantic model in Ask Data
To use Ask Data with Kyvos, perform the following steps.
Connect the Kyvos dataset to Tableau Desktop through direct connection or semantic model metadata .tds file.
Publish data source to Tableau Online.
Go to Tableau Online and open the published data source. If you are using embedded password mode, you will be redirected to the Ask Data tab, where you can start indexing your data.
If you selected the Prompt user option while publishing the data source, you will be required to provide your data source credentials.Now create a new Lens using the Create new lens option.
Tableau will create a new Lens with the same name as the data source.
Open that created lens and click on Index Now.
Tableau performs indexing and you can create more lenses and visualizations as needed.
