Kyvos supports configuring the hierarchical member qualification to uniquely identify multiple members with the same name at a given level but with different parent values. With this unnecessary inclusion of levels can be avoided that may impact semantic model processing size, time, and cost.

The following are the options for qualifying member values: -

  • All Parents: This option considers all parent values for qualification.

  • Immediate Parent: This option selects only the immediate parent to be used for member qualification.

  • Selected Parents: This option allows for the selection of specific levels to be used for qualification.

  • None: This option is used when the value of the current level's member is sufficient for uniqueness

Note

  • Changes will be reflected only when the value of the Kyvos.process.compute.type property is set to Kyvos Compute.

  • This configuration will be disabled for predefine time type hierarchies and its value will always be All parents

  • For Alternate hierarchy, the default value will be All parents

  • For Parent-Child hierarchy without alternate path the default value should be Immediate parent

To qualify members value for hierarchy, perform the following steps.

  1. From the Toolbox, click Semantic Models.

  2. Select a semantic model from the list. Locate the dimension to which you want to add hierarchy.

  3. Make sure the Design tab is selected.

  4. Select the hierarchy from the Dimension column. The Hierarchy Properties pane is displayed.

  5. Select the required Qualify Members value from the list.

  6. Click Save. The qualify members value for the hierarchy is saved.

Important

Ensure that any change made to the value would require re-processing the semantic model; thus, its value must be chosen wisely.
