Use a drill-through report to navigate to a different layer of data. Click a data element to view details, including which aggregations are applied to the data.

For example, if you have two reports that are in a master-detail relationship, you can click an item on the master report to reach the details of the clicked item on the details report.

To create a drill-through report, perform the following steps:

  1. While viewing a worksheet, choose Options and then click Show Data.
Or, right-click a data point in the chart and choose Show Data.

  2. Choose from the available options.
Depending on your data and what data is selected, you may see one or more of the following options:
    • Summarized view: Note this option is not available when viewing a crosstab, table, or dashboard.
    • Detailed view: Click an item in the master report to show the detailed drill-through report of the current sheet along with the filtered data.
    • Detailed view with all columns: Click an item in the master report to show the detailed drill-through report of the current sheet, including all columns of the semantic model along with all dimension values present after applying current filters.
  3. To return to the chart view, choose Options, then Show Data and Chart View.

A drill-through report is generated at the time you create it and is not saved.

When you create a drill-through report while viewing a crosstab:

  • The drill-through report includes higher levels of the dimension even if they are not present in the current visualization of the worksheet.
  • If more than one dimension is present in the current worksheet, the higher levels of each dimension are shown.
