Hiding Dimension column
Some dimension columns (levels or attributes) in the semantic model are used only as calculated expressions and are not useful for business analysis. You can hide such dimensions from the Kyvos UI on the Semantic Model Designer page. Hence such hidden dimension columns are unavailable for business users for visualization on Kyvos UI or any third-party tool.
When you hide a Dimension column, all the levels are hidden automatically. You can also hide columns at a hierarchy or an attribute level but cannot hide columns at a level stage.
You can view all the hidden columns on the Semantic Model Design page to design and build a semantic model.
All hidden columns can be:
- Exported and imported via cab export or import. See, Importing and exporting Kyvos objects and semantic model metadata for more details.
- Exported as a part of the field lineage. See Exporting data lineage for more details.
To hide the Dimension column, perform the following steps.
- From the Toolbox area, select Semantic Models.
- Select a semantic model from the list, and from the Design tab, select a dimension from the Dimension column.
- View the Properties for that dimension on the right side of the page.
- Clear the Visible checkbox to make the field invisible in worksheets. Similarly, select the Visible checkbox to make the field visible in worksheets. Click the i icon to learn more.
