Kyvos supports Geographic Information System (GIS) maps, also known as GIS bubbles or GIS heat maps, by providing geographic data that you can link to create a semantic model. To use the GIS charts, you must have GIS compatible cubes created in Kyvos.

Types of Visualizations for GIS Map

Once you have set the location dimensions, you can select the appropriate GIS visualization for your data, such as GIS Bubble or GIS Heat Map.

GIS Heat Map: The visualization can be plotted for roles such as Continent, Country, Province, State, and County. In contrast, roles like City and Postal Code contain more granular information, and they are represented as a point or dot on the map. In addition, for Kyvos to plot the GIS Heatmap, the Map Role must be associated with the respective field (level or attribute) on the semantic model.
- To create a GIS Heat Map in Kyvos, a map level selection is required. You can choose from different map layer levels, such as World_Country or State, depending on your data requirements.
- When you select the State level, you must select the corresponding Map Level. This enables you to create a Heat Map that is specific to the State level, and relevant data will be displayed accordingly.
GIS Bubble Map: The visualization can be plotted on all seven levels listed under Roles. Therefore, when using a GIS Bubble Map, you have the flexibility to visualize your data at any level, providing a more comprehensive and detailed view of your data on the map.

Note

The key distinction between the GIS Bubble Map and the GIS Heat Map in Kyvos lies in their data representation methods.

The GIS Bubble Map represents the data for a particular City and Postal Code level as individual points/dot. On the other hand, the GIS Heat Map represents the data as an area on the map, with the area size determined by the measured value provided in the CSV file for that role.

Plotting a GIS Map

To plot a GIS map, perform the following steps.

From the Toolbox, click Semantic model.
Select a semantic model from the list. Make sure the Design tab is selected.
In the Dimension column, select the dimension. Then, from the Dimension Properties in the right-side pane, choose Location from the Type list.
Select the level, and from the Dimension Properties, choose a role for that level from the Role list.
From the top of the workspace, click Add and choose Worksheet. The Add Worksheet page is displayed.
Enter the name of the worksheet.
Select the target semantic model from the list for which you want to plot a GIS map.
Click Add . The worksheet is added to your workbook.
Click the View workspace icon and select the Design workspace.
Click the View Type option to see a list of chart types, and then select GIS Heat Map or GIS Bubble Map chart type from the list.
Click the arrows next to the Dimension names to navigate the hierarchy and levels.
Or, type a level name into the Search box to quickly locate the required level.
Drag a dimension level to the Detail list, the GIS map will be plotted to the Kyvos work area.
