Setting the data label and label angle

  • Set the Data label: You can hide or show the data label. You can also change the angle. 

  • Set data label formats: You can set smart labels for date-type attributes in XY family charts.

  • Set data label angle: You can set the data label angle. By default, the label angle used in a bar graph is 90 degrees.

Setting the data label

To show or hide the data label, perform the following steps: 

  1. From the Toolbox, select Workbooks, then select a workbook and worksheet. 

  2. Select Design if needed. 

  3. Right-click an element in a chart, such as a bar in a graph, and choose Show Data Label.

  4. Choose Yes to show it or No to hide it.

Setting data label format

When the data label is set to yes, you can then configure the data label format. This feature allows you to use XY smart data label formats specifically designed for XY family charts. By default, the data label format is set to Smart. Additionally, you have the option to set the data label format to Default format, which is based on the data format configured at the semantic model, dataset, or even at the worksheet level.

To set the data label format, perform the following steps: 

  1. From the Toolbox, select Workbooks, then select a workbook and worksheet. 

  2. Select Design if needed. 

  3. Right-click an element in a chart, such as a bar in a graph, and choose Data Label format.

Note

To add data label format, you must right-click an element in a chart, such as a bar in a graph, and choose Show Data Label as Yes.

  1. Choose Default or Smart label type to show it.

Setting label angle

To set the label angle, perform the following steps: 

  1. From the Toolbox, select Workbooks, then select a workbook and worksheet. 

  2. Select Design if needed. 

  3. In the Properties pane, select an Axis Label Angle.

  4. Select one of the following options: 0,30, 45, 60, and 90.
