Comparing clusters

You can compare current cluster data vs. the data contained in a cab file as part of the import process. The comparison details are shown in a separate tab in your browser when you do an import so you can decide which data to import. The comparison summary tab shows a summary and a detailed list of total differences.

When you select an item in the Summary column to view details, you can see how many changes are due to modified items and which items are found only in the cluster or the cab file. For modified items, a table of differences is displayed in the Cluster and Cab columns, where you can view details, including properties and values.

The compared differences include:

• Semantic model definition XML

• Semantic model properties

• Dataset definition XML

• Datasets (only) HCatalog tables metadata 

To compare cluster data, perform the following steps. 

1. From the Toolbox, choose Utilities.

2. Choose Import Objects.

3. Click Choose File.

4. Click Compare All, or select the information you want to compare, and then click Compare Selected.
   A new tab in the browser displays the comparison information and status updates as the data is compared.

5. Select the summary for any item to view the differences. 
   The summary list shows the number of differences, and the details on the right show columns of Cluster versus Cab so that you can compare the differences. 

6. While viewing a specific item, you can also click Open Source.

7. When you are finished viewing the comparison, switch to the previous tab to finish selecting which data you want to import.
