Monitoring system usage

Applies to: Kyvos Enterprise  Kyvos Cloud (SaaS on AWS) Kyvos AWS Marketplace

Kyvos Azure Marketplace   Kyvos GCP Marketplace Kyvos Single Node Installation (Kyvos SNI)

Note

Kyvos comes with certain built-in semantic models to help you monitor the Kyvos system. To view the system details, see the Built-in Kyvos semantic models for monitoring section for more details.

You can view the usage and remaining credits information as explained in this section. When you are using Kyvos in the cloud, you can monitor system usage and credit consumption. Based on your current license type and deployment type, you will see different usage details. The System Usage dashboard shows you a consumption summary for computing, storage, and process layers.

There are two types of Usage Report Dashboard as per your current license type:

  • Pay-as-you-use (PAYU)

  • PAYU and Reserve Instances

Depending on your license contract and deployment requirements, your license file can contain PAYU credits, or both (PAYU and Reserve Instances).
See the Kyvos License models section for more details.

Viewing the Usage Report Dashboard

  • Kyvos fetches usage information at a regular hourly interval from the start of the BI Server.

  • Usage is available in GB/month.

  • Kyvos checks the credits balance prior to certain activities, including scheduled semantic model processes, querying, and system-scheduled events (start, and restart). If credits are exhausted, and no job is running, the cluster is stopped. If a job is running it will finish and then the cluster will stop. However, if the credits are below a predefined threshold, then the process jobs will fail, and you will see a message on the designer screen.  This threshold does not apply to Drop Partition, Cache Process, or Email jobs.  When credits are exhausted, all query requests stop. To update the license and increase the credits, contact Kyvos support.

  • If usage limits are reached and no job is running, the cluster is stopped. If a job is running it will finish, and then the cluster will stop.

  • When you reach the usage limit, all query requests stop. To update the license and increase usage limits, contact Kyvos support.

Usage Report Dashboard features

  • Applying filters

  • Viewing recharge history

  • Viewing usage and credit consumption of the current cluster

  • Viewing recharge history

  • Exporting dashboard or specific layer details

  • Viewing credits information

The dashboard displays details about both computing and storage usage. Computing usage includes:

  • BI server

  • Query engine machines

  • Process cluster

You will also see:

  • Credit Consumption by Query Cluster Capacity

  • Credit Renewal and Reserved Instance Deductions

  • Compute Credit Consumption by Layers

  • Storage Consumption Transactions

  • Storage Consumption in GB-Month

  • Process Consumption Trend

Using the Usage Report Dashboard

The following procedure explains about how to use the Usage Dashboard of PAYU credits. The steps to perform on both Dashboards (PAYU and Reserved Credits) are the same. The credit consumption information, such as usage graphs and trends vary based on your license type.

To access and use the PAYU usage Dashboard, perform the following steps.

  1. From the Toolbox, click Setup > View Usage.
The Usage Report dashboard opens in a new browser window.

  2. On the Usage Report Dashboard, you can perform the following:

    • Credit consumption summary: This displays the

    • Usage Period: From the top-left of the dashboard, you can change the default Usage Period by clicking the is in link. Select the required filter from the list, the dashboard refreshes to show usage details and trends for the specified time frame according to the selected filter.

    • View Recharge history: Form the top-right of the dashboard, you can view your credits recharge history.

    • Show additional information:

    • The dashboard shows credits consumed by the computing and storage layers. You can view the hourly credit consumption and the subscription information.

    • Information on balance credits and recharge transactions is also displayed.

    • You can also see the usage totals along with charts showing details over time.

    • You can share, export, or refresh the data.

You can also see the usage totals along with charts showing details over time.

  • The computing usage shows the cluster usage for computation by layer, by date, and the trends of usage.

  • The process usage shows the cluster usage for process jobs usage or credit consumption trends.

Right-click the dashboards to see additional options. The available options vary depending on which dashboard you are viewing. Options include:

  • Show info

  • Show data

  • Show detailed view

  • Show detailed view with all columns
