A stack graph is useful in visualizing the total change over time of a group of quantities or a sum of values and the subtotals that contribute to the total. For example, when looking at sales data, you may want to see not only sales of individual items but also see how total sales vary over time or total sales by a salesperson, which shows the percentage of each product type.
Using a stack is not appropriate for all types of data and doesn’t work with negative numbers.

Stacked bar charts are often used to show the full scale of survey responses, from Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree, for each survey question. There are two options with the stacked chart – one that shows individual elements (raw data) and one that shows results as a percentage. For the latter, the stacked values should add to 100%.

By default, Kyvos chooses a bar chart. However, you can easily change the stack type.

To set the stack type, perform the following steps:

  • From the Toolbox, select Workbooks, then select a workbook and worksheet.

  • Select the Design workspace icon if needed.

  • Right-click an element in a chart, such as a bar in a graph, and choose Stack Type.

  • Choose one of the following options:

    • Automatic to let Kyvos choose the best choice for the data.

    • Yes, to stack the data in the chart into totals.

    • No to not stack data.

    • 100% to set all bars, points on a line, or dots on a plot to 100%--used when you want to view a percentage.
