Configuring high availability

Applies to: Kyvos Enterprise  Kyvos Cloud (SaaS on AWS) Kyvos AWS Marketplace

Kyvos Azure Marketplace   Kyvos GCP Marketplace Kyvos Single Node Installation (Kyvos SNI)

This feature ensures that the services are started up automatically by the system if they are found to be down.

On this page, you can do the following:

  • Configure high-availability for Kyvos services

  • Configure high-availability for Postgres Server

To configure Postgres Server High Availability, you must have a Standby Postgres Server configured. If it is not configured, use the Migrate Roles page to configure the Standby Postgres Server.

You must set the wait time interval in minutes to automatically switch the Postgres Server to the Standby Postgres Server if the respective server goes down.

Recommendations for Postgres high availability

For On-prem clusters:

  1. The primary service is already deployed on the Kyvos Manager node.  To configure high availability for Postgres, you must add a node with Standby services or add Standby services to the existing nodes in your Kyvos cluster. Use Migrate role feature to assign the Postgres Server role to the node.

  2. The wait interval should be set to at least 3 minutes. This time interval (measured in minutes) indicates when the Postgres Server should automatically switch to the Standby Postgres Server in case the primary server goes down. Furthermore, if the primary Postgres Server services become unavailable, the Standby Postgres Server will automatically act as the primary server.

Services High Availability Configuration

To configure high availability for Kyvos Services, perform the following steps.

  1. Click  Monitor and High Availability> Services High Availability on the navigation pane.
The Services and High Availability dialog is displayed.

  2. To configure high availability for Kyvos Services, set the Retry Count and Retry Interval (in seconds) corresponding to the service as per your business requirement.
If a service is down, the system attempts to restart it according to the value set in the Retry Count for that service. Between each attempt to retry starting any service, there is a delay interval as specified in the Retry Interval in seconds.

  3. To configure high availability for the Postgres server, provide the  Wait time . This is the time interval (in minutes) to automatically switch the Postgres Server to Standby Postgres Server if the primary server goes down.
