Understanding Kyvos Licensing Model
Applies to: Kyvos Enterprise Kyvos Cloud (SaaS on AWS) Kyvos AWS Marketplace
Kyvos Azure Marketplace  Kyvos GCP Marketplace Kyvos Single Node Installation (Kyvos SNI)
Kyvos supports credit-based and non-credit-based licensing models. Kyvos monitors the Master Service and the Query Service computation layers to determine usage/credit consumption.
Your plan is one of the following deployment types:
On-premise (non-credit based)Â
In your cloud account (credit or non-credit based)Â
Managed Services (credit-based)Â
Note
The Kyvos 2022.3.1 release supports credit-based licensing only for AWS.
The license dates must be valid to use Kyvos servers and resources.Â
For details on your specific plan or rates, refer to your license contract or contact your Kyvos representative.Â
When Kyvos credits are exhausted, contact Kyvos Support to update the license and add more credits.Â
In the case of Kyvos credits recharge,
If your license contract has a provision for carrying forward the remaining credits, a new license is created with a total value of Kyvos credits as a sum of the remaining credits and recharge value.Â
If your license contract does not have a provision for carrying forward the remaining credits, a new license is created with a total value of Kyvos credits as a sum of the recharge value.Â
Types of Kyvos licensesÂ
There are two types of licenses that you can purchase as per your deployment requirements:
Grace periodÂ
Based on your deployment requirements and license contract with Kyvos, a grace period is provided. In a grace period, all Kyvos services are available even if your credits are exhausted. Once this grace period is completed, all Kyvos services are automatically shut down.Â
The grace period is applicable only for credit-based licensing.Â
The grace period and the license expiry date are decided as per your license contract with Kyvos.Â
When your Kyvos credits are exhausted, the Kyvos cluster runs in the grace period. You get the following notification on Kyvos.Â
To avail of Kyvos services, you must contact Kyvos Support to update your license and increase the usage limits.Â
How the Kyvos credits licensing workÂ
To use the Kyvos Credits license,Â
A shared Credits Database must be created and configured during the first (primary) cluster deployment. This database manages credit consumption transactions for multiple cluster deployments.Â
In case of multi-cluster deployment (secondary or tertiary), you must do the following:Â
Connect the BI Server to the shared Credits Database.Â
See the Connecting shared Credits Database for cluster deployment section for more details.ÂProvide the database details and its Secrets Manager details in the AWS Cloud Formation Template (CFT).
See the Creating Kyvos resources for AWS automated deployment with EMR section for more details. Â
If Kyvos credits are exhausted or your validity period is completed, the Kyvos cluster runs in the available grace period.
If your Kyvos credits are exhausted, the process jobs run in the grace period. If this period elapses while a process job is running, Kyvos will complete the job and then stop the cluster .Â
