Sorting worksheet data

You can sort in ascending or descending order in alphabetical or hierarchical order. You can also choose to show only the top or bottom N number of values. 

You need to specify TopN after a filter is applied. Note that crosstab properties may affect which fields you see. See Crosstab view and properties to learn more.

To sort a chart, perform the following steps: 

  1. From the Toolbox, select Workbooks, then select a workbook and worksheet.

  2. Confirm that the view type is set to a chart, right-click data on the chart, and click Quick Sort.

  3. Click Quick Sort again to change the sort order. 

To sort in the crosstab view, perform the following steps: 

  1. From the Toolbox, select Workbooks, then select a workbook and worksheet.

  2. Confirm that the view type is set to Crosstab.

  3. Do one of the following:

    1. Right-click the heading of the first column and choose Sort to show sort order and sort by options.
      You can sort alphabetically or within a hierarchy and choose the sort direction as ascending or descending.

    2. Right-click the heading of the first column and choose TopN to view the top or bottom N values for that item.

    3. Right-click the heading of any column to set up options to sort by that field or the alignment options for that field.

    4. Right-click the heading of the first column and choose to show all members or delete a dimension, measure, hierarchy, or attributes.
      You are not prompted to confirm.

    5. Right-click the heading of the first column and choose Show on Tooltip and select Members only or Members with hierarchy.
      Depending on the data you are viewing, the results and sort options available to you may vary.
