Line Settings

Setting the line type  

You can specify a bar or a line chart to be continuous, step, or step without risers.

To set the line type, perform the following steps: 

  1. From the Toolbox, select Workbooks, then select a workbook and worksheet. 

  2. Select Design if needed. 

  3. Right-click an element in a chart, such as a line in a graph, and select Line Settings> Line Type.

  4. Choose one of the following options:

    • Continuous

    • Step

    • Step without Risers

Try each of these options to see how the appearance of the chart varies.

Setting the line width 

For Area, Line, and Curve charts, you have the option to set the line width for both the X and Y axis.

To set the line width, perform the following steps: 

  1. From the Toolbox, select Workbooks, then select a workbook and worksheet. 

  2. Select Design if needed. 

  3. Right-click an element in a chart, such as a line in a graph, and choose Line Settings > Line Width. 

  4. Choose the required line width. 

The width of the line in the chart will be altered.

Setting the line style

You can specify the line style for X and Y charts for Area, line, and Curve. 

To set the line style, perform the following steps: 

  1. From the Toolbox, select Workbooks, then select a workbook and worksheet. 

  2. Select Design if needed. 

  3. Right-click an element in a chart, such as a line in a graph, and choose Line Settings > Line Style. 

  4. Choose one of the following options:

  • Solid 

  • Dash

  • Dots 

  • Dash Dots

  • Long Dash 

  • Long Dash Dots 

Try each of these options to see how the appearance of the chart varies.
